EID - EL - KABIR MESSAGE BY THE FOUNDER OF KADUNA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
TITLE : PEACE AND RECONCILIATION
Eid el Kabir also known as Eid al-Adha or the Sacrifice Festival is an annual celebration by the Muslim/ Islamic faithfuls around the world. This festival is celebrated on the tenth day of the Islamic lunar month of Dhul Hijja.
Eid-el-Kabir is the second of the two Islamic/ Muslim holidays celebrated annually. It is regarded as the holier of the two celebration and honors the prophet Ibrahim’s selflessness and willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. Allah intervened as Ibrahim proceeded to slaughter Ishmael for sacrifice, an angel called Jibra’il appeared and provided a sheep to be offered as a sacrifice in place of Ibrahim’s son. To commemorate this occasion, a ram is sacrificed annually for Id el Kabir, shared amongst family, friends and as well as the poor and needy.
Eid-el-Kabir is marked as the end of the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The Islamic celebration is guided by the lunar calendar and begins on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah also known as Arafat Day. The date may vary over a period of 11 days based on the Gregorian system. This year the celebration for Eid-el-kabir is 31st July 2020.
As we celebrate Eid-el-kabir I urge us to love one another, live in peace and harmony with each other and seek reconciliation were necessary. Continue to remember Nigeria in your prayers most especially Southern kaduna, Zamfara, Borno state and other state affected with insecurity, While this is necessary COVID-19 is very much around lets celebrate with caution and pray for an end to the pandemic soon.
I hope to see you visually soon during the 3rd kaduna international film festival from the 25th - 29th August 2020.
With love from my heart.
Barka da Sallah to all Muslim faithful around the world !!!
